Bakers Banton:
A sustainable baking subscription
box

Passionate about dessert making, I wanted to incorporate a way for people to enjoy creating desserts. Since a very young age, I have been experimenting with a wide variety of recipes, flavours and seasonings. From my research, the reasons people no longer bake are due to the lack of time, can’t find the right ingredients, and it’s hard to find good recipes that people want to try (with dietary restrictions also).

Using the results of my survey, I decided to come up with a solution that would allow people to try / start baking again. The solution was to create a subscription baking box, providing local dessert ingredients in environmentally sustainable packaging.

The solution to a busy schedule.

With saving time and providing all ingredients needed in a package as the prime focus, this simple baking subscription box has step-by-step numbered instructions on it’s included recipe card (with no measurements needed). Perfectly measured, numbered ingredients are stamped (with vegetable inks) on each sealed 100% compostable & biodegradable bags, which are filled with local & sustainable ingredients.

To simplify things further, there are recesses for a different bowl - ex. the crust ingredients are on the left, the filling ingredients are on the right.

An ice block is placed below it for ingredients that need to be refrigerated to ensure freshness (like butter, dairy, etc). All the components are placed in a recyclable box, delivered to your door by our bicycle-loving staff & electric cars.

Different plans, same delicious experience.

For a fantastic experience that works with everyone’s busy schedule, two different plans are available. “Taste” has as many pre-mixed prepared ingredient bags to save time, while “Touch” is the full experience of all the ingredient bags separated out individually. Three different amazing desserts to choose from, weekly.

Local manufacturing, freshness & shipping.

Important to the brand were factors such as sustainability and supporting local businesses to reduce transportation costs & pollution while keeping freshness intact: 100% printed with vegetable inks, local & sustainable ingredients, 100% compostable and biodegradable bags, recyclable packaging and energy-saving delivery methods (delivery on bikes & electric cars).

A modern, simple branded white corrugate to protect interior contents, and keep them at optimal temperature. A double sided step-by-step instructional card is included with each box.

Three large format posters used for a pop-up shop display to advertise Bakers Banton’s launch.
The easy no-surprise packaging of the subscription box, playfulness of the ingredients and the freshness & appeal of the final presentation are highlighted.
